SSS Tips

I am still waiting on corner prices to come out before looking for corner bets. Thought I may as well post these two up in the meantime.

Last week I mentioned that I am revamping the site for next season. If you have any comments on anything you like or don’t like or would like to see it is always appreciated and I can be e-mailed on mail@simplesoccerstats.com. Any other leagues you would like to see?

Already advised in Fridays posts.

Barcelona v Real Mallorca (spain – sun 9pm local time)

Barcelona have endured a terrible season and lately the wheels have come off. They have taken just 10 points of a possible 30 and in midweek took a pasting from Real Madrid. Xavi was sent off at the end so will be missing and no-one looks to be on form. Rijkaard is packing up his hair grease and leaving at the end of the season to be replaced by Pep Guardiola and who knows if this last home game will go out with a bang. The last game at they beat Valencia 6-0 but they have only won once aside from that in 11 games and just once in the last 4 at home. Goals have been a problem for them at home since they lost 1-0 to Real Madrid back in December. In 2008 they have won 4-0, 5-1 and 6-0 at home but in the other 5 games have scored just 3 goals. Mallorca come knowing a win could put them in the top 6 as Racing have a tough local derby at Bilbao and Mallorca have been on form lately with 4 wins in a row and just 2 defeats in the 18 games they have played in 2008. Just one defeat in the last 9 away games including a win at Bilbao last time, where Barça could only draw. Up front David Guiza has scored an amazing 25 goals this season (none from the penalty spot) and Mallorca have scored more than any other team away from home. The choice is what bet to go for and with the Mallorca +1 such low odds (1.83) and the risky win a best priced 6.5 I think either draw no bet or double chance to be the best bet and will go with double chance.

Real Zaragoza v Real Madrid (spain – sun 9pm local time)

Real Madrid have been crowned as champions and, although not as great to watch as they promised, have looked worthy winners in the last few weeks. The defeat of Barcelona in midweek was mighty impressive and with even the defence looks strong, although it does help having such a fantastic goalie, the worlds best in my opinion. Gago and Schneider have shined in midfield and are both young and all bodes well for the future. With Raul scoring, Robben having an injury free run, Robinho as a backup and Van Nistelrooy back from injury they should not be such big odds against Zaragoza. I know Zaragoza need to win to to save themselves from relegation but with 2 wins in 9 they don’t look like worthy favourites in this game. They dominated Deportivo in the last game only scoring in the last minute after a goalie error and the strikers are not firing. Madrid have won 10 of their 18 away games and come into the game on the back of 5 straight wins. Maybe some players will be rested but there’s enough depth for it not to matter that much. I just can’t see Madrid losing here and the 3.8 for the win from Bet365 is so tempting but a safer bet is draw no bet and the price looks to be drifting.
